Memo to the NFL: Perhaps the babes should be bubblewrapped.
In the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving victory over the Miami Dolphins, tight end Jason Witten caught a pass near the sidelines and promptly wiped out Melissa Kellerman, a four-year member of the vaunted Cowboys’ cheerleader squad who reportedly is studying to be a teacher. (Watch here.)
No harm, no flag, though, as injury and a possible league controversy were skirted. Imagine the repercussions if Witten had collided with Kelsi Reich, who happens to be dating Buffalo Bills wide receiver David Nelson.
(You know who spends a lot of time on the Cowboys’ sideline? Jerry Jones, that’s who. Where is he when you need him?)
This has been a dangerous year for those who cheer professionally. Earlier this season, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick kicked at a football on the sideline and sent it into the kisser of a Redskins cheerleader. She was fine and Vick was most repentent.
